While preparing the original presentation for the conference in Karratha, I looked at four questions Rotarians should be applying to mundane as well as to important decisions in their lives :

“THE FOUR-WAY TEST” OF ROTARY

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build good will and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

“s it the truth?” - As a God fearing individual, the search for the truth is a part of my journey. What I am learning and my experience tells me the answer is: YES.

The next questions were not that simple...

I took a step forward in time... I thought of flood victims in Mozambique, people in urban slums. Their children and grand-children. Our children and grand-children. The progeny of over six billion humans…. In that context it was easy for me to answer the other three questions in the affirmative.

The mention of a creator, or dimensions like "love" or "spirituality" can cause discomfort to some. Therefore I will endeavour to remain within the limits of the biological dimension.

Biological Life rests on physical foundations. But not all physical foundations support biological life….. We do not need the space age to teach us that. Much of our agricultural legacy appears to be amplifying this same message.

While we learn that over twenty civilisations (city based human communities) on this planet have collapsed as their agricultural practices ate up their biological foundations, the current scientific community has yet to release on the market, the pills that can provide nutrition, water, air and the feeling of wellness that any and every human body instinctively desires.
